Helping people one at a time.

By sending donations directly to the families that need them, where they’re living. Right now. That’s the goal.

In the last 18 hours, people across the country have pledged to send hundreds of donations immediately and directly, to Katrina victims at their temporary housing.

If this is your first time here: we’ve set up a clearinghouse to connect the people who want to make donations with the people in need at their temporary housing.

We want to avoid what happened in 9/11, where there was an abundance of donations bottle-necked in distribution centers.

Here’s how it works.

If you have goods to donate, list exactly what you have to offer by clicking on the tab marked “donate and view goods” at the top of the page.  A person in need, or the person housing them, will contact you directly and give you the address to send your things.

If you are a person displaced by Katrina or are hosting Katrina victims in your home and are in need of supplies, click on the same tab “donate and view goods” at the top of the page to read the generous offers of donations that have been made in the clearinghouse.  Contact the donor who has what you need by clicking on their name and their email address will immediately pop up.

And donors, once you’ve decided on a family to receive your things, let us know and we’ll indicate that in the comments. Thank you all. Si se requiere asistencia en español, por favor mande un correo a Debbie en el soloporfe@gmail.com.
