Sponsor a Katrina Family

Many of you have expressed an interest in “adopting” a Katrina family for a period of time to provide some of what they need, by way of supplies, to help them get back on their feet.

As we heard from Mary: “My husband is the Pastor of two small rural United Methodist Churches in Central Ohio. We might be small in number, but we have big hearts! Our women’s group would be honored if we could be the extended “family” for a family. We can usually come up with just about anything that is needed, as long as it’s shippable. Please find us a family with children so our youth can get involved as well. We’ll be anxiously waiting to hear from you.”

And this from Monica: “Our family would like to help out your family. Please email us and we will do our best to start putting together packages of what you need today!”

So, here’s a question.

Would you, your families or the organizations you’re involved with – or even say, a group of friends or co-workers, or your book group, your neighborhood association, your child’s school class – be interested in linking up with a family in temporary housing to provide what they need to get a new start? Maybe a family would need help affording a used car. Or furnishing an apartment. Or stocking their pantry. If this appeals to you, say so by clicking on the tab at the top of this page, titled “Sponsor a Family”. Families displaced by Katrina are invited to contact you directly for sponsorship.
