A must see

Rev. Yarbrough sent us this link to an interactive, moment-by-moment reenactment of the flooding in New Orleans the day Katrina hit. It makes clear in the most visual of ways how devastating - and immediate - the destruction was.

It just makes my heart ache.

This animation is a spectacular example of technology bieng used for something good. You can listen to the news all day long and never get a clear picture of how events really unfolded down there.

Oh, Yes! That brought new tears.

    I’ve been visiting NOLA.com a few times a week.

    It’s hard, but somehow cathartic.

I want to thank you folks in PA - for your help of those
    evacuees in your region.

I relocated to CO - where Katrina Fatigue is in abundance.
it seems. I’m not sure; I’m not in Denver. Things may be better
    there.

I was an older student - almost done with my BA. I had to make
a decision, it seemed, based on the damage to the economics
    system in New Orleans.

There were only jobs for laborers and truck drivers, and I was
able to be neither. With fibromyalgia (only pain and fatigue, I know),
I thought I was doing the best thing. I thought my housing was
    going to be ok here.

WHile I am a new client of the local VOc Rehab - I am long from
being back in my academic work, it seems.

I’ve moved four times since being in CO! It took a large chunk of my
FEMA funds to relocate. There were truck problems - and plenty of folks taking advantage of fellow victims!

I’m still looking at various aid sites - as it strikes me that information
transference was strikingly different from one locale to another.

It will be months before I have the support I need, but I am grateful for
every day, for the help I have had, and a few kind souls who, at least,
    feel my pain.

WHile I like Colorado very much, I miss my mentors and friends, and others
back in New Orleans. I only had a short month there - in OCtober. Just
long enough to get some of my things - on a truck that left prematurely -
and to see a few folks on campus.

My mother returned, but needs to relocate. I worry about her safety. She is
glad I was able to relocate, although it was way too costly. FEMA is not
reimbursing those of us who borrowed to finance our relocations.

Thank you, again, for helping those souls in your midst.

    Namaste’
